Send forth the rains

It rained pretty hard last night, so I don't believe I'll need to water the plants for a while.  The damn dog dug up some snow peas yesterday.  Aside from that, things are as quiet as they always are around the ol' garden.

Still slogging through Atlas Shrugged.  Not really slogging, but making my way through it.  I wish I could read as fast as I can think.  Still a fine book though.

I'm trying to work my way through this list of 100 best novels.  So far, I've only knocked out 14.  I'd say The Stand was my favorite so far, followed by A Prayer for Owen Meany.  Least favorite was Brothers Karamazov, then The Hobbit.  Karamazov was just tedious reading and unrelated sidetracking.  With a good editing to slice some of the fat out, Hobbit would have been worst because of boring characters that I wish would have been eaten by the dragon.  Come to think of it, most of the characters were cannon fodder.

  1. I tired doing a list run through with movies. Turns out I've watched almost 80% of the "top 100" movies. I thank my mom for that, she loves these old classic films.

  7. The winter this year has lasted so much longer than usual! Seems like a really odd change, but maybe it's normal in the grand scheme of things!

  10. If you dont enjoy the writing style of Tolkien then reading something like the hobbit is apparently very painful. I personally wouldnt know though!

  12. I totally agree with The Stand and A Prayer for Owen Meany. Although I'd probably reverse their order.
